Extended Drug Rehab Programs

There are different drug rehabilitation programs available to people based on the particular type of care they may need for their own personal situation. While some people may be able to deal with their addiction in just thirty to ninety days followed by outpatient aftercare support, there are others that may have more serious problems with their addiction and may need longer term care in order to get the best help.

This may include longer stays at a particular facility followed by longer stretches of aftercare. For those that may face additional challenges in dealing with their addictions extended drug rehab programs may be the best option when it comes to treatment.

For these people, extended addiction treatment programs are generally the best alternative as a form of treatment.

These stays can be for weeks or months longer than the traditional stay based on the individual’s needs for care. It can be that the person is required to stay longer as an inpatient at a rehabilitation center for this longer period of time in order to get the treatment they need or the patient may be able to receive extended treatment through an aftercare program where they are then able to get help as an outpatient, either living at their own home or in a sober living home or halfway home while they continue treatment.

  • Long-Term Rehabilitation Facilities – The long-term facilities are the same as traditional rehab centers that most people are familiar with, with the exception being that care here is for patients who may need longer time at a treatment facility than most others. This is generally designed for the person who is suffering from a severe addiction or has had issues with several relapses in the past and needs more time to help with their addiction. These facilities have all of the standard treatments as other centers, with detox centers, counseling and support groups and, in many cases, training and classes available to help the patient learn to adjust better to life outside the facility.

  • Other Outpatient Options – There are other outpatient options available that are often considered to be part of extended addiction treatment programs. These can include things such as following along with traditional 12 step programs outside of the facility, having regular therapy sessions with a counselor or therapist, group counseling sessions, holistic options such as meditation and yoga sessions or any other practice that may help provide the patient with the help and guidance they need to deal with their addiction.
